Sonia Petrovna studied dance at the Paris Opera School from the age of 6 to 14. At the invitation of Roland Petit, she appeared at the Alhambra in Éloge de la Folie with music by Marius Constant, in a ballet on La Défense, again by Roland Petit, at the Spoleto Festival in Hommage à Kandinsky, and in a ballet on Alexander Calder by Joseph Lazzini.
For her first acting experience in the short movie « Adolescence » she received, at the age of 13, the San Georgio Prize of The Venice’s Biennale

She subsequently developed a career as an actress, both for the cinema and for television. She has acted in Italy, in the USA and in France, with directors such as Luchino Visconti (Ludwig) and Valerio Zurlini (Le Professeur, with Alain Delon as partner).
Sonia Petrovna has taken part in many TV series and films, both for CBS and ABC in the USA and in Europe.
In the USA she has also acted - in English - in various productions of French writers, notably in plays by Anouilh, Genet, Sartre and Prévert.

At the Avignon Festival she appeared in Ionesco’s Contes et Exercices, directed by Claude Confortès, with a rerun at the Théâtre de la Plaine in Paris in December 1991.

She performed Jean Cocteau’s La Voix Humaine in a production by Michaël Lonsdale at the Théâtre Montansier in Versailles in 1995, and subsequently in 55 performances in 1995 at the Théâtre Renard in Paris.
She gave 30 performances of this play at the Avignon Festival in1998.

Sonia Petrovna has also been the reciter in many symphony concerts and has performed the role of Jeanne in Jeanne d’Arc au Bûcher (Honegger/Claudel) in a production by Michaël Lonsdale in June 1992 at the Salle Pleyel, Paris, conducted by Laurent Petitgirard, and in Berlin in May 1993 conducted by Serge Baudo.
She has also recorded this role for television (France 2 / France 3) and on CD for the label Cascavelle.
She performed « Joan of Arc » again in Metz in 2002, and for the Chilean première in Santiago in 2004.

In September 1998 for the Festival d’Automne in Taiwan, and recently at the 2007 Radio-France « Présence » Festival in Paris, she performed the title role in Stravinsky’s Perséphone (text by André Gide).

In 2000 she gave the first performance, at the Théâtre de l’Île Saint Louis, Paris, of La Nuit de Marina Sevtaeva by Valeria Moretti, in a production by Michaël Lonsdale.

At the 2005 Ramatuelle Festival, Sonia Petrovna staged a « Poetry-Music-Dance » version of « The Little Prince » by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
She did present a larger version of this production, with Ballet and Choir, at the Avignon’s Opera in May 2010 (16-21), at the Reims Theater and at the Compiegne's Imperial Theater in Octobrer 2010.
The CD of the music will be released in August 2013 by Naxos.

In May 2009 she performs the part of « Doctor Baum » (Hannah Arendt) in English at the York Theater in England, in Donald FREED’s play « The White Crow » (Eichmann in Jerusalem), staged by Damian CRUDEN.

In October 2010, Sonia PETROVNA was « Marie », speaking voice part for the recording in Budapest of Laurent PETITGIRARD’s new opera « GURU » for the label NAXOS. (The CD, released by Naxos, received the "CHOC" from the Classical Magazine Classica).
She will play the same part in the world premiere of the concert version of this opera , conducted by the composer in Oldenburg (Germany) on November 15een 2014.

in 2015 she will record with Gary Hoffman, for the label Naxos, "Hamelin" for cello and narrator (L.Petitgirard).
